QUALITY OF LIFE ELDERLY PEOPLE WITH HYPERTENSION IN PANTI TRESNA WERDHA TERATAI PALEMBANG 2017

Abstract


Background: The number and life expectancy of the elderly people are increase. The most common elderly problems are heart disease and stroke, where one of the causes is hypertension. The data from Palembang city health office the incidence of hypertension in the year 2013 is 64,406 people, in 2014 increased rapidly as much as 70,426 people, while in 2015 that was as many as 79,192 people. The problem of high hypertension, especially in the elderly group affects the quality of life of the elderly. Method: Type of research is descriptive quantitative, conducted in panti tresna werdha teratai Palembang on 1 to 21 february 2017. Sampling technique with purposive sampling with sample 33 people. Instrument used in this research is SF-36 questionnaire. Data analysis technique is univariate. Result: quality of life of elderly with hypertension at physical dimension is good category (45,3%) and quality of life of elderly with hypertension at mental dimension is good category (47,6%). Conclusion: quality of life of elderly with hypertension in good category did not reach 50% so it needed holistic approach to improve quality of life of elderly with hypertension in panti tresna werdha teratai Palembang.
