Client safety can be obtained when nurses provide nursing services in a professional, competent and qualified ways, so the danger and unexpected events can be minimized and even avoided.  Credential system is one way to improve the quality of nurses so that they can be placed within the scope of the competencies possessed by each nurse. The aim of this study is to gain an overview of nurses perseption about the readiness of credential system implementation in hospital X. The method used in this research is qualitative method with phenomenological design. Data was collected through in-depth interviews with seven participants (the nursing committee, the supervisors and the practitioner nurses) who works as a nurse in the hospital X. The data obtained using the Collaizzi’s technique. There are eight themes identified in this study, namely: (1) understanding of the credential system, (2) structuring of careers path for nurses, (3) the standard procedure of credential implementation, (4) the demands of the Commission on Hospitals Accreditation (KARS), (5) efforts to build a credential system, (6) the obstacles to build the credential system, (7) the need for support and alignment policy of the credential system, (8) the hope of building the credential system. The results of this study is expected that all parties in the hospital such as, the policymakers, the nursing committee, and the practitioner nurses know and support each other in doing the credential system.
